Love is in the air!!!!

So love is in the air. It has consumed me. Last Saturday I witnessed, within one foot, Sara and Nick pledge to each other, and God to love, honor and cherrish each other. It was beautiful to be reminded that a marriage is not just between two people but is really between three. "A chord of three strands is not easily broken..." After watching Sara and Nick's pledge it made me reflect on what is known in my family as "marriage season"

Next Monday, June 1 a big event takes place. My in-laws celebrate 40 years of marriage. I think that is quite a feat in today's society. Think of all the trials and tribulations and joys and sorrows they have shared. They have watched two beautiful children grow and turn into productive adults. They have shared the diagnosis and tribulations of Multiple Sclerosis. They have shared the death of parents and the birth of a grandchild. Wow, what a journey the Lord has taken them on! I can imagine that the chord of the marriage has been pulled and tugged in multiple directions in 40 years. However, their strongfast love in each other and God has held their union together and has not broken.

Next Tuesday, June 2 another big event takes place. My parents celebrate 30 years of marriage. Again quite a feat in today's society. My parents ability to work through differences and remain steadfast to their commitment to each other and God still amazes me. My parents have watched two little girls grow into two beautiful women (at least I think so!) They too have helped each other through the deaths of thier fathers and the medical issues my Dad has dealt with over the years. My parents are not wealthy in the respect that they live in a huge masion and drive fancy cars. However, they are blessed to have each other and to know what REAL committment is and that the love of family is what truly makes one wealthy.

Next Monday, June 1 is John and I's anniversary. We especially picked June 1st as it falls right on or near our parents' anniversary. What great role models we have! I can't believe that 7 years has almost passed. In our relatively short marriage we too have felt adversity and the joys that life brings. We have survived a deployment, welcomed our beautiful son, and prayed that God would help heal him. We are truly blessed!

June 5th marks the anniversary of friends Kristina and Michael. They too have had stuggles and triumps. I'll let them share their stuggles but I know one of their greatest triumps was the birth of their one-year-old Gabriel.

June 6th is the wedding of Jeff and Keelin. May God bless Keelin and Jeff the way we have all been blessed, whether that is through struggles or joys!

Love is most certainly in the air? Have you caught it yet?
